Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)

In my clinical work, I incorporate evidence-based practice (EBP) to ensure that every assessment and therapy decision is grounded in both science and individual needs. EBP involves integrating three key components:

  • Clinical expertise: The knowledge, judgment, and critical reasoning developed through professional training and experience.

  • Evidence: The best available research from scientific literature (external evidence), combined with data and observations collected for each individual client (internal evidence).

  • Client and caregiver perspectives: The personal and cultural values, priorities, and goals that shape each client’s unique context.

When these three elements work together—often referred to as the Evidence-Based Practice Triangle—they guide informed, individualized care. This approach allows me to provide high-quality, ethical services that reflect both current research and what truly matters to each client and family.
